Cellphones » Nokia Phones
The Nokia 6230 is a business class phone based on the Nokia Series 40 platform. Announced in the fourth quarter of 2003 and released in the first quarter of 2004, this Nokia 6230 features an integrated digital camera, video recorder and a music player. The Nokia 6230 brings a number of enhancements compared to the predecessor Nokia 6220, not least being the active TFT colour display with 65,536 colours, compared with the measly 4096 colours of the 6220.
The Nokia 6230's screen resolution is still relatively poor at 128 x 128 pixels but the quality of the camera has been enhanced, with full VGA resolution up to 640 x 480 pixels. The camera is easy to use with the phone display used as a viewfinder, and includes useful features such as a self timer function, a choice of standard, portrait, and night modes and a choice of 3 image quality options: high, normal and basic.
The VGA camera included in this Nokia 6230 can record video clips in H.263 (SubQCIF) format at 128×96 pixels. With extended maximum duration of clips that can be played and recorded. The 6230 accepts MMC memory cards up to 1GB in capacity (supported by later firmware releases) on which multimedia files and data can be stored. The captured video can also be tranferred via Bluetooth, which replaces the infrared connection of the 6220, and the faster EDGE connection.
